Membrane technology is an achievement of space technology.
All substances dissolved in water are larger than the water molecule (H2O). The water pressure pushes the water through a semi-permeable membrane, through which only water molecules can pass.
All other materials and compounds are retained and it is discharged into the drain with the inflowing water.
